Six Apart EMEA is sending its very own Dhana Silva, Voxer and Sales Manager of Spain and Latin America, on a 3 week-long blog evangelism tour that will cover her trek (in stilettos, of course) through Venezuela, Columbia, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

With existing Spanish and South American clients like Hola, El Tiempo, El Pais, Banco Sabadell, El Clarin, Mobuzz TV, Mercurio and Microsiervos, Six Apart hopes to help spread blogging throughout this exciting region of the world. Among other things, Dhana will be sharing her insights on the growth of Web2.0 in Latin America, based on her discussions with industry leaders and other pioneering companies already using web technologies in their respective fields.

Hewlett-Packard has launched a contest to design the best theme for TypePad, Vox and LiveJournal. Design To Inspire is the latest initiative from the innovative US tech solutions provider, who have recently teamed up with musician Gwen Stefani to provide cutting-edge design options to their customers.

As we mentioned earlier on this blog, Six Apart products are also big on design. Besides the intrinsic flexibility and customizability of TypePad and Movable Type, we have recently rolled out brand-new themes and Design Assistants for both TypePad and Movable Type. Meanwhile, award-winning Vox has always offered a number and quality of designs unseen in a free service. And, since a picture speaks a thousand words, perhaps these examples will demonstrate our commitment to design.

Although anybody anywhere is free to submit designs, the contest is open officially only to US residents. This means that European entries will be accepted but are not eligible to win prizes -- but it is a good opportunity to gain notoriety as a designer in North America. The deadline for submissions is 4 April and results will be announced on 22 April. Good luck!

CNet's Webware 100 Awards is now accepting votes!

Movable Type, TypePad (Webware 100 2007 Winner) and Vox (Webware 100 2007 Winner) have all made it through to the final round of the annual competition that bestows honors on the best and brightest in Web 2.0. All three products are nominees in the Publishing & Photography category.

Voting is open until 31 March and winners will be announced 21 April, one day prior to the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco. For those lucky enough to be going to San Francisco for the event, make sure you check out David Recordon's talk on open platforms.

The OpenID Foundation has announced that Microsoft, Google, IBM, VeriSign and Yahoo! have accepted OpenID, the authentication framework created by Brad Fitzpatrick during his tenure at Six Apart, for purposes of security and practicality. Free to use and completely open source, OpenID is currently promoted and supported by the OpenID Foundation (OIDF), vice-chaired by none other than our very own David Recordon.

As a major contributor to the OpenID movement, we are proud to remind you that your free account on Vox, or your existing TypePad or TypeKey accounts count as an OpenID identity. OpenID plugins for Movable Type are also available.
