Six Apart and JumpBox announce Virtual Movable Type

Six Apart has teamed up with JumpBox, a developer of virtual appliances that offers simple solutions for server software deployment, to create Virtual Movable Type.

As its name suggests, Virtual Movable Type by JumpBox is a version of Movable Type which automatically installs all necessary components of the original platform on a single virtual machine. In effect, it offers the same power and features of Movable Type without the complexity of configuring server applications upon installation.

This latest application makes it radically easier for users, even those with minimal technical skill, to get started with Movable Type. Once JumpBox has been set up, the installation process for Virtual Movable Type takes a matter of minutes."We want to give our customers a variety of installation and hosting options when they start out with Movable Type," says Ed Anuff, EVP and GM of the Movable Type division at Six Apart.

Virtual Movable Type is available by download from JumpBox and comes with all the advantages of the original Movable Type platform including Action Streams, which facilitates interaction among dozens of the most popular social networks, as well as a full robust web server infrastructure tailored to run Movable Type at peak performance.
